Fellsmarch Castle

Fellsmarch Castle

Fellsmarch is the capital city of the Fells and is the seat of power for all of the Gray Wolf queens. It is located in a high mountain valley known as the Vale, situated high in the Spirit Mountains, which is home of the upland clans. The mountain landscape is studded with hot springs and geysers, which moderate the harsh northern winters.

It is also known as the City of Light. It smells of flowers of all kinds, and charcoal burners.

Geography[]

The Dyrnnewater flows through the city from the Spirit Mountains, who leave it clean. The Vale dwellers use it as a repository for filth, which in turn sends a poisoned river to the Shivering Fens. The sewer systems were built hundreds of years ago, and money to pay for repairs became unavailable during the times of war and unrest.

The city has narrow, twisting, nearly vertical streets. It is not walled, relying on the Spirit Mountains to provide protection.

Castle Close[]

Just outside is Regent Street, along which is a tavern. Right next to the tavern is a rare bookshop. Mina Abelard visited it twice a week to meet with the eyes and ears she had assigned to Han.

  • Kendall House

Locations[]

Ragmarket[]

Ragmarket is one of the poorer districts in Fellsmarch. There are swarms of kids that run the streets. It is filled with street hustlers, market vendors, ragpickers, street musicians, fancies, and mumpers. Old women sit in doorways smoking leaf and gossiping. They wear their lives on their faces and are far younger than they look.

In Ragmarket, the Guard is workable. They are mostly locals, and they'd rather sit in their garrison houses and dice and play cards. No one is trying to make a name for himself. If you make a deal with them, they honor it. If they're on the dawb, they won't come after you unless you do something they can't ignore. It is better territory than Southbridge, as it is closer to the Castle and has more money passing through, more easy marks with fat purses.

  • Cobble Street: Han and his family lived above a stable here, there is a well at the end of the street.
  • Raggers: the street gang Han used to run, later run by Cat. At war with the Southies.
  • Potter's Square
  • Catgut Alley

Southbridge[]

Southbridge is one of the poorer districts in Fellsmarch. It is home to the Southies street gang, and the bully Mac Gillen.

  • Southbridge Temple
  • the Keg and Crown: a tavern where Han used to play delivery for Lucius Frowsley's goods. Run by Matieu.
  • Brickmaker's Alley: where the Southies gang can be found.
